Kenyans will have to wait longer for establishment of National Police Service Commission after a parliamentary committee rejected the appointment of six persons approved by Executive.
Parliamentary Committee on Administration and National Security tabled its report before the House recommending that the names of six nominees be referred back to President Kibaki.
The committee in the report tabled by chairman Fred Kapondi further recommended that the President, in consultation with Prime Minister Raila Odinga, consider nominating the chairperson of the commission from among three persons they interviewed.

The three, who were seen as the best performers during the vetting include Ms Jean Njeri Kamau, Mr Murshid Mohamed and Mr Johnston Kavuludi.
It further recommended that the two principals nominate five persons from the following, Esther Chui-Colomboni, Ronald Musengi, James A. Atema, Musa Muia and Mary Auma Owuor.
The row between the president and PM over the nominees had halted the process.
The Constitution made proposals for overhaul of the operations and management of the police force with Article 243 (1) establishing the National Police Service Commission.
The committee ignored a letter from President Kibaki to Parliament nominating Ms Amina Masoud as the chairperson of the commission.
