Phew! Women don’t need to worry about nipples anymore

Lady Speak

Bras are so annoying! I had the misfortune of hitting puberty rather early and my breasts sprouted earlier than those of my friends. And so, at the age of 11, I was walking around with fully-fledged boobs and was literally the only girl in my class wearing a bra. I hated bras then and I hate them even more now. What with falling straps and pinching wires! Taking it off is the best part of my day. Luckily, even though my boobs developed earlier, I didn’t grow to become large-chested. I thank God that my small and perky boobs make going braless a viable option for me all the time. I don’t have to fret about underwire and padding.

However, even though I’ve never had to worry about bouncing and sagging, I have been facing another awful predicament that comes with going braless; my nipples showing through my clothing. Many people consider it a fashion faux pas. A visible nipple outline will draw unwanted attention. There is no faster way to get general public disapproval than walking around with erect nipples.

Men will leer at your chest and women will frown at you. I wish they would try and understand that there are times when we really can’t help if they’re showing through our tops. The cold season is upon us. Expect to see a lot of prominent and visible nipples around.

So, even though I am in the small-to-medium breast bracket, I was being forced to wear a bra because a few people can’t stand a little nipple action through my top. Even though I utterly loathe bras, I can’t stand the alternative; being gawked at and glared at in public. It is sad that I have had to walk around with an underwire digging into my rib cage, simply because my perky nipples might throw off someone’s day. But all this is changing! I dare say that soon bras will become extinct. Women don’t generally wear bras outside of the bedroom because they want to; they wear them because they feel they have to. It is all about societal expectations and embarrassment, but like I have said, things are going to change soon.

There is a new crop of audacious celebrities who are not afraid to free the nipple and women worldwide are picking up this new trend. Celebrities like Rihanna and Kim Kardashian have been photographed time and again with their nipples in prominent display under their clothes.

It doesn’t matter whether you are a big-busted babe or you have small boobs. If you really hate bras, you shouldn’t wear them. Dare to stroll around braless and don’t worry that your nipples are going to show. They are just nipples. Men put theirs on display all the time and nobody seems to have a problem with it, so why the backlash when a woman does it? Bras are a false necessity and do nothing for breast health. No matter how much the society tries to convince you otherwise, visible nipples does not amount  bad etiquette and everyone needs to get with the programme.
