Matatu crew caught on camera stripping woman, sentenced to death

Nairobi, Kenya: Matatu crew caught on camera stripping a woman in Githurai bound bus sentenced to death for robbery with violence and 25 years each for sexual assault.

The accused were arrested on November 27, 2014 along Thika Road after there was an outcry from the public.

Hundreds of protesters took to the streets to condemn the humiliating public stripping of three women. The mobilization for the protest started through social media under the hash tag #MyDressMyChoice. The protesters marched from Uhuru Park to a bus stage on Accra Road, where people alleged to be touts were filmed ripping off a woman’s clothes for allegedly dressing indecently.
