Raila Odinga: I am not scared of prison

NASA flag-bearer Raila Odinga brushed off threats from Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery by saying that he is not scared of being sentenced to prison after statements he made during a rally in Kajiado.

CS Nkaissery had asked the Director of Public Prosecutions to open a case against the former Prime Minister over what he termed as incitement to the locals with Jubilee politicians, led by Aden Duale also singing the same song.

But speaking during another rally in Kajiado East at Kitengela, the opposition chief said that he was only advising poor people from the Maasai community not to be compelled to sell their land but those with enough land could do so at their own will.

“What can they say to scare Raila Odinga? I have been in prison for nine years while those who want be jailed have never set a foot in a prison cell. Nonsense”. He said, adding that Kajiado is a cosmopolitan area housing people from various ethnic communities in the country.

“Jubilee has failed to implement the recommendations in the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission report but we shall do so when we get power and give justice to the oppressed Maasai Community. In fact, they are part of the problem that’s why they cannot solve it,” He further claimed.

Mr. Odinga also said that NASA’s aim is to unite all Kenyans while accusing Jubilee of ethnic discrimination when it came to public appointments.

Speaking earlier during the rally, Kajiado County Governor Dr. David Nkedianye stressed that all the people of Kajiado live in peace with each other and assured that not a single person shall be driven away.

“Raila Odinga did not incite anyone, that is just Jubilee propaganda and I want to declare that Kajiado is not a swing area but fully in support of NASA,” He said amid cheers from the flooded supporters.

Voicing his support for his fellow NASA principal, Moses Wetangula launched a scathing attack on Interior CS Nkaissery saying that he had failed to ensure security to the people of Garissa who are victims of constant IED attacks.

“Why haven’t they arrested the Deputy President for alleged land grabbing, between him and Raila Odinga who is supposed to go to jail?” He questioned.

He added that NASA will ensure free education from early childhood education to secondary school while promising increased allocation of funds to the Higher Education Loans Board to support tertiary education.

Furthermore, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka simply laughed off the attempts by Jubilee to open a case against Mr. Odinga saying that they did not know what they were saying.

“Raila Odinga is the most competent man in the battle for the presidency this year and you cannot just wake up and decide to arrest him,” he stated.

Meanwhile ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi assured voters that NASA has placed strategies to ensure no rigging of elections while showing support for embattled Machakos gubernatorial aspirant Wavinya Ndeti.
