KANU signs post-poll deal with Jubilee

Nairobi, Kenya: KANU, a partner in the Musalia Mudavadi led Amani coalition has joined Jubilee coalition ahead of swearing in of president-elect Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday.

KANU Chairman Gideon Moi and secretary Nick Salat signed a post election deal with Uhuru and deputy president elect William Ruto signifying a working relationship between the two coalitions.

During the run up to the March 4 general elections, KANU was in Amani Coalition that competed for same power as Jubilee coalition. Amani came a distant third behind Jubilee coalition and the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord)) .

Before the supreme court ruling on Saturday a section of media reported Musalia Mudavadi had indicated his willingness to work with Uhuru Kenyartta’s Jubilee coalition in building a unified Kenya.

Gideon Moi who successfully vied for Baringo County Senate seat congratulated President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta after the Supreme Court declared him duly elected.

The Kanu National Chairman on his social network page wished the president-elect well in his presidency.

Gideon also hailed the outgoing Prime Minister Raila Odinga for peacefully accepting the Supreme Court ruling, which confirmed the Jubilee coalition flag bearers were elected in a free and fair manner.

During the swearing in of Baringo County Governor Benjamin Cheboi, Gideon had pledged to work with all the elected leaders in the area regardless of party affiliation.

Gideon said it was high time the leaders put their party politics and political differences aside and work for the people to realise meaningful development at the end of their five-year term.
