“I have done reasonably well the work of legislating as well as representing the people of Mandera central who gave me an opportunity to serve them in that capacity,” he added.

Abdikadir noted that he was happy that he had served in various capacities in the Tenth parliament where he managed to make a difference.

The former Mandera central MP was the chairman of the Justice and Legal Affairs committee  when he joined parliament.

Neutral approach

And with the promulgation of the new constitution he quit the position to take over another critical one, the Chairman of the parliamentary Implementation Oversight Committee (CIOC) which was charged with overseeing the implementation of the new document.

Abdikadir who was accepted by members from across the political divide as he was viewed as being neutral fro the political realignments in the House . He will be remembered for the manner in which he steered the two committees to come up with critical decisions pertaining to the new constitution.

Many a times is when he had to raise the red flag and literally push the government whenever the process was about to stall or certain timelines were being flouted by the executive.

“I have done what I was able to do and now I am ready to do any other interesting job that will come my way,” he added.
