New ministers take over office

New Justice Minister Eugene Wamalwa has taken over office from his predecessor Mutula Kilonzo.

Wamalwa took over office on Tuesday as Minister for Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs a day after President Kibaki, in Consultation with Prime Minister Raila Odinga made changes to the cabinet.

r while Mutula was moved to the Education Ministry.

Sacked Tourism Minister MP Najib Balala also handed over to Voi MP Danson Mwazo.

Balala said he was not bitter with his dismal and vowed to make a political statement on the matter on Wednesday.

He said his stint at the ministry was one of the most fulfilling moments in his life adding he has also left behind a committed and passionate team that will serve the sector effectively.

 â€œI don’t want to talk politics at this handing over but will do so tomorrow at the Serena hotel. I only want to welcome my brother to his new responsibility,” said Balala.

Moses Wetangula, Chirau Ali Mwakwere and Prof Sam Ongeri were also moved in the reshuffle.

Wetangula was moved from the Foreign Affairs ministry to Trade and his place taken by former Education Minister, Ongeri.

Mwakwere was moved to Environment from Trade while Kigumo MP Jamleck Kamau was appointed to the Ministry of Nairobi Metropolitan.

Njeru Githae was confirmed as Minister for Finance.
