NAIROBI; KENYA: The eagerly awaited presidential debates that had been slated for last year will finally take place next month.

After the party primaries, six candidates have been confirmed to be on the run for the top seat and will face off in a live televised debate on February 11 at the Brookhouse International School. The second debate will be held on February 25.

Raila Odinga (Coalition for Reforms and Democracy), Uhuru Kenyatta (Jubilee), Martha Karua (Narc-Kenya), and James ole Kiyiapi (Restore and Build Kenya), Musalia Mudavadi (Amani), and Peter Kenneth (Eagle) are the six aspirants who will debate.

All gunning to be the fourth president of Kenya, the first ever presidential debate in Kenya will sure be fire. Tasked to moderate the ballot competitors will be Julie Gichuru and Linus Kaikai.

“For the second debate, the moderators will be Joe Ageyo and Uduak Amimo,” said The Standard Group’s Director in charge of Value and Innovation, Francis Munywoki.

He is also Director of Operations in the subcommittee overseeing the preparation for debates. On Thursday, campaign teams met organisers at a Nairobi Hotel where they were taken through the rules of engagement, format of the debates and logistics.
