At least two people were reported killed on Saturday morning in constituencies boundary dispute in Wajir South.
Several others were seriously injured when gunmen raided Abakore Division over what is suspected to be a protracted feuds over boundaries with neighbouring Lagdera constituency.
Wajir South Medical Officer of Health Dr Hussein Abdullahi said one person was pronounced dead on arrival at the Habaswein District Hospital, and eight others were admitted with gunshot wounds.
"Two are seriously injured and we are performing blood transfusion. The injured have gunshot wounds and we are arranging to refer them to Garissa General hospital. We have been told that there are more casualties on the way", he said.
Leaders from Wajir South said armed men allegedly from Lagdera attacked Abakore as the villagers were asleep on Saturday at about 5am.
ODM K nominated MP Mohammed Affey said security apparatus were made aware of the impending attacks but nothing was done to protect lives and property.
"As leaders from Wajir south we will not tolerate this. The government should take action or the communities will start defending themselves", he said.
He appealed for calm as the government tracked down the armed criminals following reports that the community in Wajir south was preparing for retaliation.
The two constituencies have been involved in a protracted dispute over Abakore Location with each constituency claiming ownership.
However, an arbitration overseen by the immediate former North Eastrern PC James ole Seriani determined that the location lay squarely in Wajir South and that the the Ewaso Ngiro river is the boundary between the constituencies.
