The National Cohesion and Integration Commission ( NCIC) says it will investigate Miguna Miguna for hate speech.

NCIC commissioner Dr Ahmed Yasin said in Mombasa on Wednesday that they would liaise with the Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko to study Miguna’s controversial book to determine whether he has committed other crimes for which he can be brought to account.

In his book Peeling Back the Mask, Miguna accuses Prime Minister Raila Odinga and his close allies of abetting corruption.

And when launching it at the weekend Miguna issued new threats, including claiming that the ODM and its leaders supported post-election violence.

The former PM’s aide left the country on Tuesday to Canada.

The DPP has asked the police commissioner to interrogate Miguna over the claims on post-election violence.

Speaking during a media workshop at a Mombasa hotel, Yasin said that a special team would study the entire book.

“They will scrutinise its contents to see whether there was any hate speech content. The commission will be working together with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution and the police to determine where the author(s) are culpable,’’ he added.

But Yassin disclosed no complaint has been made and suggested the NCIC is trying to preempt one.

“Though we have received no complaints so far, we believe the same could be coming and are prepared to receive them,’’ said the commissioner.
