Meanwhile, the much-anticipated bout pitting Bena ‘Supuu’ Kaloki and Jane Kavulani for the vacant women’s national super featherweight title was cancelled in the sixth round after a heavy downpour made the canvas wet and slippery.
Kenya Professional Boxing Commission (KPBC) who sanctioned the fight, said the national super featherweight title is still vacant.
Kaloki said she was pleased with the judges’ decision, as it was the only option available.
“We will only follow the judges’ ruling. I’m happy for the boxers who contested earlier before the rains,” Kaloki said.
Kavulani urged KPBC to reschedule the match soon.
“It was so unfortunate that the bout I had been training for since January had to be cancelled,” said Kavulani, who is looking forward to an international title fight later in the year.
