Oppose new MPs' plot to loot from Kenyans

It is abhorrent and disheartening that MPs are planning to pass a bill that will see them burden taxpayers by drawing monthly perks after retirement for the rest of their lives.

The MPs currently earn a Sh850,000 salary per month, a sitting allowance of Sh7,500 per session, are entitled to a mortgage of Sh20 million for a house in Nairobi, a staff stipend of Sh200,000 and a car grant worth Sh3.3 million every five-year term for their services to the nation.

Given that most MPs have bad records in terms of service delivery, do we also need to pay them after they retire?

MPs have of late hit the media for the wrong reasons, among them fighting in the National Assembly and trading abuses in public.

As a matter of fact, MPs are just trying to widen the gap between the rich and the poor so that the people remain with their begging bowls running after them forever.

That MPs become broke and poor immediately they vacate their office is a big joke and laughable. Does it mean that they are always vision-less and myopic about tomorrow? Don’t they have a culture of saving? Or who robbed them on the way?

It’s unfortunate that our leaders are keen on advancing their vested interests oblivious of the dangers they are exposing the nation to.

Kenyans should wake up and reject the inhumane bill.
