Strathmore University students hospitalised after food poisoning

Nairobi, Kenya: Students and staff of Strathmore University are admitted to various health institutions after a food poisoning incident that happened last week on Friday.

According to a statement sent by the university, the incident happened at the institution during Strathmore's Fourth Year Students Dinner.

University's Relations officer Betty Ngala, in a statement to newsrooms, said the university has taken charge to ensure the health and safety of the students and staff is well taken care of.

"The University is fully aware of this matter and has taken charge to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff is well taken care of. Some students have been attended to at the Strathmore University Medical Centre, and others have been attended to in other health institutions. Visits to some of those in hospital have been made by teams of staff members," read the statement.

The affected are 4th year students and staff members, who attended the Seniors Dinner.

"Catering services for this event were outsourced and investigations have been launched to establish the real cause of the food poisoning. Our faculty members are working to ascertain the numbers of students affected," it indicated.
