ODM leaders caution over Kajwang' succession

ODM leaders have called on politicians across the country to tone down political temperatures ahead of the burial of the late senator, Otieno Kajwang'.

Led by party chairmen from eight sub branches in the county, the leaders expressed concern that some people in the county have already started the debate on Kajwang's succession.

Rangwe ODM Chairman, Kennedy Marembo said it was too early for people to express interest in the senatorial seat.

He said such comments were unfortunate and might interfere with burial preparations of the late Kajwang'.

"Let us concentrate on the burial arrangements to enable the Senate organise a good send off," Marembo said.

The party chairman in Kasipul constituency, Evance Ndege appealed to party supporters to avoid rivalry adding that the time had come for party members to forget the past and start a new journey.

PASSIONATE APPEAL

"It is true there had been differences in ODM's Homa Bay branch but I want to appeal to party leaders and members to live as brothers and sisters so that we can bury our late senator," Ndege said.

Mbita ODM Chairman, Narkiso Tuko told politicians to hold their horses.

"Let us allow all rituals before anybody talks about inheriting Kajwang's wives or any of his political positions," Tuko said.

Meanwhile, Homa Bay Town Chairman, James Pete and branch Youth Leader, Shem Mamluki urged locals to maintain peace on the burial day.
