Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education candidate suddenly goes blind

Bondo, Kenya: A KCSE candidate at Bar-Chando Secondary School in Bondo sub-County went blind moments before sitting her Mathematics Paper on Monday this week.

According to the Bondo Sub-County Education Officer Ms Mary Oichoe, the candidate was preparing to sit for her paper when she suddenly experienced loss of vision.

Oichoe disclosed that the student has had a history of eye problems including experiencing similar sudden attacks thrice while in school, a factor that prompted the school to hurriedly seek medical attention from hospital.

She revealed that the girl has been suffering from the strange condition that brings complete blindness for even two weeks before regaining sight.

Oichoe said that the candidate's condition prompted her office to communicate with the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) which provided her papers in large prints including getting her the necessary reading aid in case of a possible attack.
