Kericho Senator, Charles Keter faults Pesa Mashinani launch

Kericho, Kenya; Kericho Senator, Charles Keter has said the impression created by the Council of Governors that voters in the South Rift were backing the Pesa Mashinani campaign is wrong.

Keter said Governor Isaac Ruto and his Kericho counterpart, Paul Chepkwony were perpetuating their selfish political agenda that lacks the blessings of the people who elected them.

“The fact that MPs and a number of MCAs from the region did not attend the launch of the governor’s Pesa Mashinani referendum push on Saturday is a clear indication that the two governors are on their own,” Keter said yesterday.

SIX GOVERNORS

He said none of the 12 MPs from Kericho and Bomet attended the launch and only five of the 35 MCAs from Bomet County were present at the function held at Bomet Green Stadium. Only six governors out of the 47 were in attendance.

The senator, a close political ally of Deputy President William Ruto, said it was only a matter of time before the Pesa Mashinani campaign crumbles due to lack of support from voters.

“I doubt if the governors will garner even 200,000 signatures from the South Rift. What the people want is Jubilee to deliver on its manifesto and not the political sideshows Kenyans are being subjected to by the governors and CORD,” he told The Standard.
