Centre to train Siaya fishermen on pond management

SIAYA COUNTY: The Centre for Research and Technology Development (RESTECH) will train fishermen in Siaya County on development of fish ponds in a bid to reduce dependency on Lake Victoria for fish.

The fishermen will also benefit from technical support from the centre on ways to fight poverty through better use of the lake's resources.

Speaking at the Siaya Agricultural Training Centre Sunday, RESTECH Director Wellington Otieno said ward reps will be involved in the new approach by being trained on how to develop bills that would help the county come up with good, food security policies.
