The transport agency has embarked on a name-and-shame policy to inform the public of vehicles that have flouted rules. According to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), the method is being applied on vehicles that ply long-distance routes.

On September 8 the authority suspended four saccos whose vehicles had exceeded the speed limit of 80km per hour. The affected saccos, according to the latest report for the period between August 13 and September 13, are Narok Line Sacco, Daima connections, Sema Stage Sacco, Kisumu Ahero Mowuok Company and Mwingi Travellers Sacco.

However, Sema Stage Sacco and Kisumu Ahero Mowuok Company have since complied and have been allowed back on the road. NTSA chairman Lee Kinyanjui also named three Saccos as notorious for flouting speed limits; 2NK Sacco, Narok Line Sacco and Neno Sacco.
