National girls handball champions Moi Girls Kamusinga face off with Hanika of Rwanda in the semi-finals of the Brookside East Africa Secondary schools games at Eldoret Sports Club. In the second girls last four tie, home girls St Anne’s Sega will clash with Uganda’s Mbogo. The Kenyan girls are hopeful of securing an all-Kenyan final, which will guarantee the country a third regional gong.

Kamusinga captain Jacinta Leli told Feverpitch that they will go for nothing less than victory against the Rwandans. "We are settling for nothing less than the trophy this year. We are in good form, including home advantage and have all it takes to reclaim our title," Leli said.

The former East Africa champions have made their intentions known remaining unbeaten en route to the semi-finals. They hammered Rwanda’s Apega 30-17 in their last preliminary match. Isabele Wanyama starred for the 2013 regional winners scoring nine goals while Caren Lutengela and Mayimilu Werunga scored six goals each. Flosin Dusengemureani was the lead scorer for the Rwandans with five points.

Sega Girls on the other hand beat Hanika 24-22 in their last group tie to top their pool and book their semis date with Mbogo. Third Kenyan representatives Matuu Memorial beat Uganda’s Mbogo 24-22 to bow out of the title contention with their heads high. The 2007 champions Matuu lost two of their group stage matches but were not ready to leave the competition without victory.

In the boys contest it was the end of the road for Makongeni as they fell 22-25 to Kibuli of Uganda.

In volleyball Soweto suffered their first defeat in the hands of Rwanda’s champions St Aloys. The Kenyan girls succumbed to pressure to go down 2-3 in sets of 23-25, 25-12, 20-25, 28-26 and 15-20.
