Pray for Kenya, DP tells Bohra spiritual leader

Mombasa: Deputy President William Ruto has asked the visiting Bohra spiritual leader Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin to pray for the country.

Speaking at the Bohra mosque in Mombasa's Old Town when he received the spiritual leader on Wednesday evening, the DP urged the visiting spiritual to pray for the country's peace and prosperity.

Mr Ruto said his reception of the spiritual leader confirmed the Government's recognition of the Bohra community's contribution to building the nation.

The DP commended Bohra faithful in Kenya for their immense contribution to the social, economic and political well-being of Kenya.

Thousands of faithful turned up to receive their spiritual leader and later lined up along the narrow streets as the convoys left the grand seaside mosque.

Saifuddin expressed gratitude for the warm welcome from the DP and Kenyans at large and promised to continue praying for peace.

"I will continue to pray for Kenya and endeavour to visit every year. This is my second home," he said.

Among those who accompanied Ruto to receive the spiritual leaders included Majority Leader Aden Duale, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, Lunga Lunga MP Khatib Mwashetani and Mombasa County Commissioner Maalim Mohamed.
