Okeyo rules Muthaiga as Kurji, Maina and Onyango prevail in Thika, Karen and Vipingo Ridge golf courses

Andrew Okeyo posted an impressive 41 stableford points to emerge the overall winner of the 2015 UAP golf tournament played at Muthaiga Golf Club course, Nairobi, on Saturday.

Playing off handicap 10, Okeyo’s stakes were raised at the par five-seventh hole in which he sank a rare birdie before adding ten level pars despite dropping bogey shots on the rest of the 18 holes to claim the trophy.

“I am excited to win this event despite tough greens in most of the course,” said Okeyo.

Tim Getty, playing off handicap nine, was the men’s winner on a count back score of 37 points, tying on the same points on runner up handicap 17 Steve Gakuo during the UAP Insurance sponsored day long 18 holes stableford tournament that attracted 160 golfers.

Rose Koome, playing off handicap 12, was the lady winner on 32 points, while the junior prize went to Railway’s Joy Ndonga on 39 points. The guest winner was P. Muia on 37 points.

LADY WINNER

At the Thika course, the 2015 Syngenta tournament was won by Hanif Kurji on 44 points (20+24), while Isaac Charagu came second on 40 points (22+18).

Petty Kiwe was the lady winner on 41 points (21+20) while the guest prize was claimed by D.Masindano on 38 points (18+20).

The Philip Ndegwa tournament played at the par 72 Karen course was claimed by handicap 19 Henry Mania on 37 points.

COUNTBACK SCORE

Handicap 14 Kithinji Kiragu was the runner up on count back score of 36 points after tying on the same points with third placed handicap 16 Elijah Rumo of Railways.

At the Kenya Railways Club, handicap 8 S.H.O.Onyango emerged the winner of the Crown stableford event on a count back score of 38 points after tying on the same points with second placed handicap six A.N Omooria. Handicap 22 F. Kimanzi was third on 37 points.

At the Vipingo Ridge course in Kilifi County the Clubnite tournament was claimed by handicap six Mitesh Kumar on 36 points. Handicap seven Evans Jonathan was the runner up on 35 points, while handicap 11 Allan Habala was third on 33 points.

The Friday clubnite event played at the par 71 nine hole seaside Mombasa golf course saw handicap 15 Symon Wambugu emerge the winner on 74 nett. The Division Three winner was  handicap 22 Japheth Obonyo on 74 nett.

At Ruiru course, the 2015 Juja golfers tournament was won by handicap 28 Pauline Mungai on 69 nett. Handicap 23 Gitau Gichure was the runner up on 72 nett while handicap 25 Lucy Kwendo finished third on 72 nett.
