With four matches gone in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL), Western Stima and Bandari are the surprise package in what seems to be a long-drawn-out season.

The two teams, which were relegation candidates at some point last season, have managed to pick themselves up.

Though it may be too early to call, both sides have so far been impressive on the pitch.
Bandari are particularly impressive after revamping their squad in a bid to avoid last season's predicament which saw them struggle for the better part of the season.
Coach Twahir Muhiddin has shown once again that he has what it takes to guide the dockers to a respectable finish, as was the case two years ago.

Bandari are currently third on the log with seven points.
But the story of Western Stima is even more intriguing and shows the experienced hands of coach Henry Omino.

With three wins in four matches, the power men boast of one of their best starts in the season and look capable of maintaining this to the end.

Despite inflicting a 1-0 loss on AFC Leopards, Ulinzi Stars will have to shed off their image of an inconsistent side if they are to have a good season.

The soldiers have been blowing hot and cold and one hopes that victory over Leopards is what they needed to remain consistent.

Coach Robert Matano said in the club's website: "It was great we won against AFC Leopards because we played very well in both halves and maintained our shape and structure. Scoring early was very key because we know well the danger Leopards pose."

"However, the work begins now and the players must realise it is up to them to make these results regular. We have to be consistent in our performances and play with the same tempo. That is the only we can be sure of challenging for top honours this season," added Matano.

Ulinzi Stars moved to seventh place after the weekend victory and their next assignment is in Mombasa against Bandari on Sunday.
