Liverpool and Manchester United on Theo Walcott alert

Theo Walcott is facing fresh doubts over his Arsenal career.

Walcott claimed on Thursday that he has not yet started talks on a new contract, even though he will only have 12 months left this summer.

Gunners and England winger Walcott has been unable to win back a regular starting place since returning from almost a year out injured, and that is his biggest concern.

The situation has already alerted Liverpool, while Manchester United and Manchester City could both also be interested in the 26-year-old.

Roy Hodgson also warned Walcott it is a “dog eat dog” situation in his England squad, and that he must play regularly at club level to win back his place.

Walcott has not played an international since September 2013 but is in the squad for Friday's Euro 2016 qualifier against Lithuania and the Tuesday friendly away to Italy.

Hodgson, speaking said: “That’s the thing about football, isn’t it? If you’re not careful, there’s always someone behind you waiting to take your place. It’s a dog eat dog world, a bit.
