Drogba's move to Chelsea and Nasri’s transfer to Arsenal may be scrutinised by French police

Samir Nasri and Didier Drogba

The deals that took Didier Drogba and Samir Nasri from Marseille to Chelsea and Arsenal respectively are going to be investigated by French police, according to reports in France.

Drogba joined Chelsea for £30m in 2004 and Nasri signed for Gunners for £13.4m and these are believed to be amongst a host of deals that will be scrutinised due to concerns over the French club’s financial dealings of the time.

It is alleged that Marseille only received £26.3m for Drogba despite announcing that Chelsea had paid £28.8m. There are also suspected to be irregularities in Nasri’s move.

Current Marseille president Vincent Labrune, and two ex-presidents are among several people being questioned by police over commission and alleged illicit payments made on transfers involving the Ligue 1 club.

Neither Arsenal nor Chelsea are suspected of any wrongdoing in either case.
