Carlos Tevez's father 'kidnapped in Buenos Aires' as striker jets home

Argentina: Reports in Argentina suggest kidnappers have ordered a ransom of up to £1 million after intercepting a vehicle on Tuesday morning.

Juventus striker Carlos Tevez is believed to be heading back to Argentina following reports his father was kidnapped in Buenos Aires.

Solid details of the case are yet to emerge, however, Argentine daily La Nacion suggests that Tevez's father was abducted from a car in the Buenos Aires suburb of Moron at around 7am local time.

The newspaper reports that a source has informed them that the striker will be heading back to Argentina, after the kidnappers contacted the family with their ransom demands.

It is believed that two phone-calls were made, with the first originally demanding a lower ransom and the second calling for a ransom of up to £1 million.

Speculation suggests that the cause of the confused demands comes as the kidnappers were not originally aware that they had abducted the father of the former Manchester City striker.
