Kenya Police FC have been handed a two-point advantage at the helm of the FKF Premier League after their closest challengers Tusker and defending champions Gor Mahia played out to a 0-0 draw at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos yesterday.

Both Gor and Tusker needed a win to close in on Police who saw off Bidco United 2-0 on Saturday.

K’Ogalo, who are riding on the experience of Croatian tactician Sinisa Mihic who was appointed two weeks ago, failed to find the back of the net against an impressive Tusker side who are now unbeaten in their last five matches.

Mihic secured a 2-1 comeback win over Mathare United during his first match at Gor last weekend, but it seems consistency is still a hard nut to crack for the champions who registered their fifth draw of the season.

In Kisii County, Shabana FC's struggles also continued after being held to a 0-0 draw by Mathare United.

The Slum Boys, who were winless in their last four matches building up to the match up, needed a win to move them further from the relegation.

Carrying a 1-0 win record against Shabana from their only meeting last year in December, the former champions were confident and impressed largely with their goalkeeper Michael Wanyika putting a man-of-the-match show to stop the hosts backed by their thousands of fans at Gusii Stadium.

Wanyika was equal to the task, parrying away almost everything thrown at him by the Glamour Boys, his exploits helping Mathare United secure an important point that temporarily eases pressure as their fight to avoid being relegated to the National Super League continues.

However, Mathare are just a point above the relegation and promotion playoff spot currently occupied by Posta Rangers.

After the end of the season, the two bottom placed outfits will be relegated automatically to the Super league, while the 16th placed team will face off with the third placed team from the National Super League in a winner takes it all two-legged playoff match.
