Kenya Police Bullets kicked off their title defense on a high note after thrashing Kisped Queens 3-0 during the opening day of the 2024-2025 FKF Women’s Premier League match played on Saturday at Police Sacco Stadium.

Lydia Akoth opened the scores in the 39th minute to give the champions a narrow 1-0 half time lead before Rebecca Okwaro netted a brace to kill off the visitors.

Okwaro who was instrumental during Police’s stellar run last season first found the back of the net in the 51st minute before rounding off the scores with his second of the game and season 10 minutes later.

In Kisumu, former champions Vihiga Queens also launched their campaign with a 1-0 win over Ulinzi Starlets.

In what turned out to be a tough match for the hosts, Khasiala Providence Mukalo came out the hero of the day after scoring an 89th minute winner and break the soldier’s hearts.

A tough first half for both sides saw the game go to half time tied at 0-0 before Mukalo launched on to a free kick delivery from Ruth Khasoha to hand Queens maximum points.

In Bungoma, Kibera Soccer Women defied all odds to edge out hosts Bungoma Queens 2-0 in an entertaining match played at National Polytechnic.

Amina Nyakoa put Kibera ahead with an early goal, scoring after 10 minutes of action to give the visitors a 1-0 lead, a slender advantage they carried into half time.

Anna Arusi sealed the win with a last-minute strike in the 90th minute, ensuring Kibera left Bungoma with all three points.

At the RVIST Grounds in Nakuru, Trinity Starlets won by a 3-0 scoreline against Bunyore Starlets.

Action resumes on Sunday in Kisumu where Kisumu All Starlets will host Zetech Sparks.
