The International Rehabilitation Council for Torture has condemned the recent killing of Kenya National Youth Alliance and Mungiki spokesman Njuguna Gitau in Nairobi. IRCT urged the Government to investigate the killing. IRCT Spokesman Sune Segal told participants at a workshop, which brought together journalists from around the world in Copenhagen, Denmark, the organisation has also commenced its own investigations through its two centres in Kenya. "It is unfortunate that we are still talking about people being killed in mysterious circumstances in countries around the world but Kenya is gradually emerging as a country where such killings are taking place on a rather high rate," said Segal. Segal announced that the organisation is in the process of establishing centres worldwide where torture cases and other forms of human rights violations will be documented by a team of journalists.
