By Kenan Miruka Thirty thousand men in Nyanza are set to undergo circumcision next week. The initiative, under the Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision programme, starts next Monday. It will run for 30 days in health facilities and selected outreach centres like schools. Speaking at a Kisumu hotel during the launch the programme, Provincial Director of Health Jackson Kioko said plans for the initiative were still underway and a complete schedule on where residents would access the services will be made public. "The Government and its partners will work together within the available resources to circumcise about 30,000 men in Nyanza," said Dr Kioko. The programme was launched last year to help reduce spread of HIV. So far, 48,000 men have been circumcised in Nyanza under the initiative. The programme targets 80 per cent of 1.2 million men aged between 15 and 49 who are not circumcised. Nyanza is the first province to implement the programme.
