Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has formed a task force to endear Kenya as a tourism and investment destination.

The formation of the task force was mooted during a meeting co-chaired by CS Balala and his Industrialisation counterpart Adan Mohamed and attended by various captains of industry.

The task force will be chaired by Equity Bank Chief Executive James Mwangi.

"Today, we formed a unique partnership between government and the private sector, to specifically focus on changing the global and local narrative on Kenya and as a result improve the image of Kenya globally and consequently increase tourism inflows, foreign direct investments and possibly the growth of Kenya into a business hub in this part of the world," he said.

Balala said the Ministry of Tourism was allocating Sh200 million to the initiative that will further complement other transformative measures to improve the sector.
