Man wanted to hit his bibi with nyundo for ‘cheating’

 Alexander Kangethe

A carpenter has told a city court that he attempted to beat his wife with a hammer for allegedly engaging in prostitution.

Fifty-year-old Alexander Kangethe who was charged with creating disturbance, reportedly committed the offence against his wife Beatrice Njambi in Njiru area.

It is alleged that the two had parted ways one year ago, and were living separately.

On the night of the incident, according to the police, the complainant was seeing off two female friends when she met Kangethe who was heading to his house.

An argument is said to have ensued between the two after Kangethe reportedly accused Njambi of prostitution.

The court also heard that the accused allegedly threatened to kill Njambi, together with their only child, so that he could have peace of mind. Kangethe is said to have then threatened to hit Njambi with a claw hammer. The two are said to have taken off and were later rescued by police on patrol.

The officers arrested Kangethe who unsuccessfully tried to flee from the scene.

The matter will be mentioned on June 27.
