ODM national youth leader Rashid Mohamed suspended for opposing anti-IEBC protests

ODM National Youth Leader Rashid Mohamed has been suspended for "gross misconduct."

The action was taken against Mr Mohamed after he led demos in Kakamega to counter anti-IEBC protestors.

A statement from the party's Executive Director Oduor Ong'wen said Mohammed was not authorised to speak for or on behalf of the ODM Youth League.

"Mohammed was effectively suspended from the ODM Youth League and subsequently replaced with John Ketora in an acting capacity," read the statement.

Mr Ong'wen said that the suspension followed recommendations from the ODM Youth League's National Executive Committee.

Mohamed said he had not received communication from party headquarters informing him of the suspension.

Ford Kenya youth censured Mohamed and Mahiakalo MCA Cleophas Malala for organising the demos. Lurambi MP Raphael Otaalo, Matungu ODM Chair Paul Posho and Vance Udoto, also condemned the move.
