CORD leader Raila Odinga to visit Meru for talks on miraa farmers' woes

CORD leader Raila Odinga is expected in Meru County tomorrow to discuss the plight of miraa farmers.

ODM's Meru Branch Chairman Robert Kathata said Raila is expected to hold a meeting with the farmers and traders at Maua Polytechnic to discuss ways of helping them in the wake of the crop's ban from European markets.

He said since the Jubilee government seemed to have abandoned them, they had been forced to look for other assistance to help them survive the tough financial times facing residents in Nyambene, where farmers have grown miraa for years.

"We are inviting people from the nine sub-counties to come welcome Raila," he said.
