Politicians must earn degrees, PS tells varsities

Universities have been warned against being compromised by politicians seeking academic certificates to contest in the next elections.

Education Principal Secretary Collette Suda, who spoke during a graduation ceremony at Maasai Mara University, raised concern over the 'mad rush' by politicians who are flocking universities to to get quick certificates, including degrees.

"We have got to uphold the highest level of integrity. I know as elections draw closer, some politicians will be rushing to acquire certificates in order to vie for various seats. Degrees are earned not bought. Everyone must attain the required qualifications through actual studying, not shortcuts," the PS said.
