Property destroyed as MP's Nairobi house is burnt down in a fire incident

Property valued at millions of shillings was destroyed in a fire incident on the house belonging to Mbalambala MP Abdikadir Aden in Nairobi.

The fire broke out on Heights Apartment along Kirichwa Road in Kilimani area Monday night flattening property valued at millions of shillings.

The MP’s family ran out of the house as the fire raged from one room to the other burning valuables. No injury was reported but fire engines arrived and managed to contain it.

Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome said they are investigating the incident.

"We don’t know what caused the fire on the apartment burning property but we are investigating," said Koome.

Police are also looking for gunmen who shot and seriously wounded two men in a suspected robbery in Kasarani area, Nairobi Monday night.

The victims were found lying on the roadside minutes after they had been shot at close range near Hunters area.

Police say the assailant seemed to be an accomplice because he had argued with the victims before the shooting happened. The injured men aged 24 and 23 were rushed to hospital in a critical condition where they are admitted with wounds in the abdomen. A hunt on the gunmen is ongoing.

Cases of accomplices killing each other are on the rise due to disagreements on sharing of loot.
