Nairobi, Kenya: Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi will on January 20 launch Form One Selection exercise, 2015, at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development.

The selected students will be expected to join form one between February 2 and 13.

During the event, the Cabinet Secretary will lead Form One selection for National Secondary school—an exercise that will take two days. This will be followed by the launch of County Form one Selection exercise on January 26 and 27.

The exercise will wind up on January 29 where selection of students to be admitted into Sub-county schools will be done.

The Ministry of Education Saturday said the selection of the students into form one will be based, like in recent years on merit, choice of the students, quota system, equity and affirmative action.

Friday, the Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) warned parents and teachers against fraudsters masquerading as council staff out to fleece them money with promise to offer Form One slots.

Education Principal Secretary Bellio Kipsang also said the exercise would kick off soon and warned that no one had been mandated to assist any student.

After the exercise is conducted, students will be able to access information regarding which school they have been admitted to by sending their index numbers to 20042.

“Students who will have been selected into National Schools will be able to access the information immediately on the day the Ministry launches the exercise on Tuesday. Students who will have been admitted into County Schools will access this information on January 26,” said the ministry in a statement.

The ministry, in conjunction with County Governments, will also conduct selection of students into Youth Polytechnics on February 5.

This, according to the ministry, will provide alternative education and training opportunities for students who, because of shortage of form one places, will not have been admitted into form one.
