As babies are born, midwives play a crucial role in the general health of a new born child. in a small village in the county of Uasin Gishu Mary Keremei, a midwife assists mothers in new born delivery using traditional methods, mothers who believe that the traditional way of delivery is the way to go. And as sixty ultra sound machines that aid in pregnancy care are distributed throughout the country by Philips company and the ministry of medical services a project aimed at reducing infant mortality and maternal deaths KTN’s Mercy Kandie brings us the story of traditional practices vis-à-vis modern healthcare this amid estimation by the world health organization that two hundred and ninety one thousand women in developing countries will die from pregnancy-related causes in 2012 alone.
