KTN Prime: War on terror as Kibaki Disapproves Amendments

Head of the civil service Francis Kimemia reacted angrily to both the grenade attack and the American government’s warning of possible terror attacks two days before. However, prime minister Raila Odinga seemed to see it differently. KTN’s Asha Mwilu reports. In another development, President kibaki has rejected the miscellaneous amendment bill. This thwarts an attempt m-ps to allow themselves to move from one party to another ahead of the next general election. The president’s decision does give a lifeline, though, to parliamentarians who were opposed to the strict requirement of a university degree, which the bill introduced for everyone seeking parliamentary positions. Senior reporter Aaron Ochieng’ reports on this new development that has brought joy to more than eighty parliamentarians who do not hold university degrees.
