Parliament has raised the educational standards for persons interested in vying for elective posts to take effect in another five years…president, deputy president, governors and members of parliament will be required to be degree holders in the 2017 general election but not the forthcoming elections…approving the amendment to have degrees, MPs say with better education comes better payment. Moving the amendment in parliament, transport minister Amos Kimunya says the salaries and remuneration commission will be looking at education as a benchmark for remuneration thereby rallying parliamentarians to approve the amendment with a promise of uture better pay.
