Morocco urged on Thursday a de-escalation of violence against the Gaza Strip and the opening of humanitarian corridors for the enclave.
"More than three weeks after the outbreak of military clashes, civilians are still targeted, causing thousands of victims among children and women and tens of thousands of injured, homeless and of missing," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates said in a statement.
The ministry noticed that missiles and shells were increasingly targeting civilian facilities, forcing more than a million people in Gaza to flee internally and depriving them of water, electricity and fuel, thus generating a catastrophic humanitarian situation.
In the statement, it said that Israel's military escalation "was in contradiction with international humanitarian law and common human values", warning that the conflict and violence could spread into neighboring areas, threatening the security and stability of the entire region.
