Your mind is the greatest asset that God has given you. Scientists indicate that the brain contains a hundred billion neurons; and can record eight hundred memories in a second for seventy-five years. The worst thing that can happen to a human being is to lose their mind.
God created us in his own image and this includes his mind. It would not be possible to communicate with him if you did not have a mind or brain. It is the platform that he uses to communicate with us. It is a blessing to have a good mind.
“How precious also are your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with you” (Psalms 139:17-18). It is such a warming thought that God as great, mighty and glorious as he is thinks about you. How often do you feel about him?
What pillars do you need to jog your mind to a place where you begin to rethink your life? First, understand that thoughts control your life but you can also control your thoughts.
“Do not eat the bread of a miser, nor desire his delicacies; for as he thinks in his heart, so is he. Eat and drink! He says to you, but his heart is not with you. But his heart is not with you” (Proverbs 23:6-7).
Your thoughts reveal who you are. You have the power to control and select what you think about. If your thoughts are always of poverty, broke, oppression, depression, prosperity, good health or success, this is what you will be.
Second, any change in your life will start in your mind. You do not change by striving to change your behaviour—behaviour can be resistant to change. You bring change into your life by changing your mind.
Change starts from inside not outside of you. “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind; that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:2).

Third, to change the way you feel you must change your mind. The way you feel is derived from how you think. How you think dictates your feelings and your feelings dictates your actions. “When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the Lord; and my earnest prayer went up to you, in your holy temple” (Jonah 2:7).
The Bible poses a question, “Who understands the mind of God?”
We can only understand the mind of God by having the mind of Christ. This means to have: the attitude, disposition, thoughts and reaction of Christ.
“Let this mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:5)
The Psalmist admonishes us not to walk in the counsel of the wicked or not sit in the seat of the scornful. You either have the mind of Christ or the devil. Apostle Paul prays that Christ’s mind be in us because one can have another mind - which is demonic and worldly. Choose the better and wise option of the mind of Christ.
When you have the mind of Christ, you know your true identity. Jesus knew exactly who he was: Son of God, light of the world, good shepherd, bread of life, way, truth, resurrection and life. With the mind of Christ, you have direction and no identity crisis because you know who you are. You understand the will of God for your life.
Two, you know your purpose. If there is anything Jesus knew was his purpose.
“Jesus answered and said to them, even if I bear witness of myself, my witness is true; for I know where I came from and where I am going. But you do not know where I come from and where I am going” (John 8:14).
Three, you know the presence of God.
“Indeed the hour is coming, yes, has now come, that you will be scattered, each to his own and will leave me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me” (John 16:32). You know the presence of God by being prayerful. Jesus made a habit of going out to pray and to be alone with God. He was so prayerful that the disciples asked him to teach them how to pray.
When you pray, God answers and speaks to you, and things change because prayer has power. While praying, you can literally feel his presence surround you.
“When you call me, I will answer and show you great and mighty things which you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3).
The Church today does not know God's presence because Christians are not praying—they are devoid of prayer. Prayerfulness simply means dependence on God, and prayerlessness means independence from God.
