Series Review: Satisfaction

Movie Buffs

satisfaction

Neil Truman (Matt Passmore) is a man with a beautiful wife, talented daughter, well-paying job and living in a big house, but unhappy. Like a chaperone, Neil guides our ‘young’ eyes through the film with a voice-over. He has been too busy with a job he wants to quit, and which takes his time away from his family. He returns home one day and busts his wife, Grace (Stephanie Szostak) cheating on him with a handsome escort boy, Simon (Blair Redford).

Thumbs up

The beginning of the series is like an American comedy where silliness rules the day, with Neil narrating his boring life that really should not be boring. But Satisfaction takes on the issue of infidelity, and goes on to show why spouses cheat and the human need for satisfaction. It goes on with unexpected twists and turns, when Neil also becomes an escort boy, and later on seeks help from Simon to understand his wife and solve his marital issues.

Thumbs down

Although a drama, the series could do with a little more humour. The only time we are sure to expect humour is the few occasions when we witness Darryl’s (Kelvin Yu) obsession with Neil’s ingenuity in the work place.

Verdict

It worth a watch for those who do not mind a not-so-fast-paced storyline. Only a little information is given in each episode with a cliff-hanger coming at the end, which is only explained in the following episode.
