Fuel shortage facing some parts of the country is yet to be experienced at the Coast.

Residents have not experienced any petrol or cooking gas shortage for the last two weeks.

An attendant at Total Petrol Station, Mr Ali Muyuku said; "I have been hearing about the shortage but to be honest, I have never experienced it here at Total petrol station or even elsewhere, " Muyuku said.

Demand

Mr Tom Ogondo, a motorist, said the shortage was news to him because there was enough at the Coast.

In Kisumu town, the fuel crisis eased although prices have gone up. Suppliers attributed the rise in prices to increased demand.

Most petrol stations have set the price at Sh82 per litre of unleaded petroleum.

Mr Jared Otieno of Oil Libya said the supply was restored in the town on Monday.

"The prices are at Sh81.9 but will go down to at least Sh78 in three days when the demand falls," he said.

He assured residents there was enough stock to last the next few months. The town suffered when the country experienced an acute fuel shortage last week. Some stations were charging as high as Sh98 for super and regular petrol and Sh84 for diesel. However the prices varied from station to station with the lowest retailing fuel at Sh80 for super and regular and Sh77 for iesel.

Thousands of holiday travelers were stranded upcountry as acute fuel shortage continued.

Prices of fuel have continued to skyrocket despite a significant drop of crude oil prices in the international market.
