Controversial Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has radically called for the collapsing of National Super Alliance (NASA) constituent parties into one outfit ahead of the general election in August.

Muthama, a member of the NASA National Coordinating Committee said that his coalition should follow Jubilee’s example and collapse the coalition parties into one party and so as to ensure that they remain united.

“I called for the making of CORD into a single party a year back, i hereby repeat that NASA should be united into one party,” he said in an interview with The Standard.

Muthama said that the coalition that brings together ODM, Wiper, ANC and Ford Kenya stood a better chances to bring together Kenyans that had been enthinicised by earlier regimes including the current Jubilee administration.

The call for merge, comes at a time the parties in the alliance are busy on the issues of whether to hold individual or joint nominations and the thorny matter of picking a flag-bearer and his running mate to face President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.  The Machakos senator said that the future of Kenya relied on its unity but was saddened that Kenya continued to slip into negative ethnicity.

If the NASA parties merged, the country would have two huge parties, he said.
