Leicester's Riyad Mahrez brace denies Zimbabwe shocker victory against Algeria

Ranked fifth in the continent, Algeria and Zimbabwe placed thirtieth started off day two of the 2017 AFCON with yet another draw, 2-2 after group A contenders ended day one with each scoring once against the opponent. 

The Kaiza Chiefs had a tough task defending their first half lead which they rose to after Algeria had earned an early lead through EPL Leicester's Riyad Mahrez in the twelfth minute. 

Zimbabwe then displaying an enterprise play, earned an equaliser when Mahachi's shot went right into the left bottom corner of the net ending a five minute trail. 

The Kaiza warriors leaped to the lead from the penalty spot shortly before the break. 

It was Mushekwi with their second goal from a perfect take sending Algerian goalkeeper M'Bolhi the wrong way paving way for the lead after defender Belkhiter brought him down on the penalty area. 

Riyad Mahrez shuttered the 46-year-old Pasuwa's sides likely dream to disapprove of their having been considered underdogs in the group with his second goal leading to the tournament's third draw in a row. 

Zimbabwe had been engulfed with controversy over delayed arrival of jerseys and earlier on complaints had emerged over player allowance arrears and had last made an AFCON appearance eleven years ago.
