One of the most successful events in Nairobi this year has been the Connect Pool Party event held at Best Western, almost every month.

The uptown gig that is associated with Nairobi’s coolest showbiz acts has a regular female DJ Dee; the Incredible D.

For some time now, Incredible D has proved that she is not a passing cloud after some naysayers dismissed her when she made her debut a few months ago.

She is versatile...and she is as hot as the music she plays. Simply put, DJ Dee is easy on the eye and her music is easy on the ears.

Since she started spinning at Connect, Dee has become the most popular female deejay of 2016 and now, all eyes are on her as she weaves her way in this male dominated industry.

Dee joins the big names you need to watch out for in all those parties this festivity season but who are the rest...or do we say, who are the other big ones?

Joe Mfalme Among very few of Africa’s verified DJs, Joe Mfalme has been in the game like a chess master. He is a mix master by profession and calling – and one of Kenya’s, nay, Africa’s most sought-after decks masters.

He charges $1,500 (about Sh152,000) to $2,000 (Sh203,000) for regional and international tours, Sh40,000 to Sh50,000 for club gigs, a minimum of Sh50,000 for special occasions and as for colleges and universities shows, you might cough up Sh60,000 to Sh70,000 to get the party going.

The Pilsner Mfalme winner proves why he is the king as his events are mostly exclusive – attracting mostly moneyed corporates.

Crème de la Crème

You don‘t mention deejays and Forget Dj Crème de la Crème. As his name suggests he is indeed among the top layer of DJs.

Despite his controversies, Dj Crème will pull crowds with only one scratch on the wheels of steel. He is the highlight of international shows.

He is at the top with the crème de la crème because he is consistent, diligent and ladies just can’t seem to get enough of him.

Never mind that he is a family man and a doting father? He makes around Sh800,000 a month.

DJ Hypnotic

He will keep you tuned with sleek mixes and very few glitches as he hypnotizes you with a string of back to back music from Kenya to the Caribbean to Europe.

He charges Sh150,000 for corporate events, Sh30,000 for club gigs and Sh50,000 for shows at the club. The Live On Blast DJ has also appeared on Coke Studio – what about that for a CV?

DJ Kaytrixx (Spin Cycle Deejays)

Soft-spoken decks master, DJ Kaytrixx was ranked as the best Kenyan DJ in 2013. With a laid-back personality, Dj Kaytrixx is also a family man with few knowing that he studied engineering at the university.

The father of twins is a busy man with his Spin Cycle outfit hosting some of the most attended (and wildest) parties in town.

He is rumoured to charge upwards of Shs 80,000 for a single event.

Notable mention here would be DJ Mr T – the other concord of Spin Cycle entertainment. Soft spoken, humble and creative, DJ Mr T is a gentleman with a cream of talent and a pocket of money all rolled into one.

DJ Xclusive

Don’t be fooled by the name. DJ Xclusive will host any event and attract crowds to your event. He broke out in 2015 and was among the fast rising deejays but it seems he has now established himself, well, exclusively.

DJ Shanize

DJ Shaniz looks good both on the eye, and she is rumoured to be on the radar of most corporates and event organisers looking for an alternative to the secular DJs.

DJ Mo Gospel DJ, crossover 101 host, entrepreneur maestro, Size 8’s husband, Baba Wambo is among the many hats Gospel DJ Mo wears.

He recently landed a deal to be Broadway’s bread brand ambassador, ensuring Wambo has her breakfast sorted.

DJ Mo doesn’t come cheap either as his ‘toppa adi the top’ mantra suggests. With upwards of Sh100,000 per event, DJ Mo is literally dining with the kings.

DJ UV Dance Republic and Capital FM Music DJ and Producer, DJ UV is electric and one of the fastest rising deejays in Kenya.

He has done shows in almost all East African countries, attracting mammoth crowds leaving nothing to chance.

He is a House DJ, meaning if you have a house party, you know who to call. From Afro house to Progressive to Electro DJ UV will get you dancing, or nodding your head because energy is his nickname.

He isn’t called Dance Republic for nothing.
