The biggest victory for AFC Leopards this season will be to end Gor Mahia’s title ambitions when they meet on Sunday at Nyayo Stadium.

Gor Mahia remain in denial — still hope they can win the league title despite falling six points behind leaders Tusker with only three games to go.

On Wednesday after their two all draw with Western Stima, coach Jose Marcello Fereira “Ze Maria” said it is now down to mathematics.

“On Sunday we will be fighting for the three points. It will be just like any other game with three points at stake,” stated Ze Maria.

For sure, Ze Maria does not understand what is usually at stake when Gor Mahia meet.

It is AFC Leopards, who ended Gor Mahia’s 34 match unbeaten run in March — a game that marked Gor Mahia’s problems this season.

Coach Frank Nuttal, who had won the league title unbeaten sneaked out of the club that night and life has never been the same for Gor Mahia again despite bringing in former Brazillian international Ze Maria.

Gor Mahia have struggled under Ze Maria despite being in the title challenge.

That title challenge suffered a jolt on Wednesday when Western Stima held them to a two all draw.

Should they fail to beat AFC Leopards on Sunday, the title will have gone to Tusker.

“We know it is now tight, but we must continue hoping and believing. We will go for the game with open minds and fight for the three points,” he said.

If Gor Mahia win the game, they will be postponing the harsh reality that the title is headed to Ruaraka.

Leopards will be celebrating ending three year of Gor Mahia dominance if they get something out of this game.

“We know we have not been at our best, but the pain of seeing Gor Mahia winning the title for three years has been hurting. I hope our players will do something special on Sunday to make their fans cry,” a Leopards fan said.

Leopards have won only one game in the second leg. They are yet to win in six games but despite their poor showing, they are psyched up for the derby.

“We know they will be out to mess us up. We are not going to allow that. We will not only fight to the end of that game but also to the end of the season,” Ze Maria said.

Gor must beat Ingwe, something they have not done since 2012, and also win all their remaining games including the final game against leaders Tusker while at the same time hope Tusker lose twice in their remaining three games.
