Muhoroni Youth protest against 'mistreatment'

Muhoroni Youth players are up in arms over alleged mistreatment by the club’s top hierarchy.

The players are now demanding that the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) hand them their release letters.

It all started on Thursday night when according to the team’s top striker Wycliff Ochomo, players were attacked by villagers on the orders of club chairman Moses Adagala for allegedly posting poor results.

“We played a friendly match and won but after that we were attacked by villagers and some body guards of our club chairman. We have not slept because of the pain.

“We are currently in the process of asking the KPL office to give us our release letters. Our condition is that, we are not interested in playing for Muhoroni Youth again unless we are paid our salaries until December and the home matches moved to Nairobi,” said Ochomo, who insisted that players don’t feel safe in Muhoroni any more.

The club’s head coach Bobby Ogolla did not want to comment on the matter, only saying that efforts are being made at reconciling all parties.

“We are in the bus going to Nairobi. We are trying to see how best to sort out the differences that have come up,” he said yesterday when he was speaking to Feverpitch over the phone.

Club chairman Moses Adagala laughed off the allegations and accused some senior players of trying to cause problems in the club.

“No one was attacked. One of the players was found with someone’s wife. He was being attacked and I sent my bodyguards to assist him. It has nothing to do with the club,” he explained.

He added:”We are having with some senior players who are aware that their time at the club is almost up and so are stirring trouble with the rest of the players. All is well at the club.”
