AFC Leopards elections are set for this weekend (Sunday) at Kasarani.

Campaigns by various candidates have intensified to win over delegates.

Maurice Amahwa, who's campaign has been dubbed as 'Ingwe Team Change', is one of the candidates seeking to be elected as the club's chairman. He said his desire is to restore the lost glory of the 13-time KPL champions.

Amahwa insists he will form a secretariat in a move that looks to bring professionalism to the club, and also establish a strong academy, which will act as a feeder team for the senior team. He said the club will be challenging for title from next season.

"We have to come up with a good structure that will enable the team to flourish. Personally, if elected, I will ensure we have a good academy that will provide talent and ensure our club next season will be challenging for the league title," he added.

The Mombasa-based business man will go head to head with Dan Mule and former FKF Deputy President Robert Asembo who have expressed their intentions to vie for the seat. Amahwa, who is the current treasurer of the Interim Management Committee (IMC), has expressed his willingness to change how things have been conducted in the club by implementing a working policy.

"I want to look into all the problems facing the team. For a long time, lack of unity has always brought rifts in the club. So, I want to bring stability to the team and make sure all the fans and Management are working towards achieving a common goal, that is to build a successful team" he said.

Meanwhile, in another twist in the race for the chairmanship post, Mathew Opwora stepped down yesterday and endorsed Amahwa.

"I want to step down from the race after a lot of consultation. I support Amahwa's candidature for the position of chairman because he has shown he has the club's interest at heart. I will continue to support the team to the best of my ability," said Opwora.
