Young girls admit having a sponsor is popular

News

#Moral degradation #Who has bewitched you? I earlier wrote about Project X. A series of crimes of passion that happened in universities and also about nudity and impropriety in dressing.

All of these blare grave moral degradation and the worrisome direction we are headed in. But there is a trend right now of cross-generational sex synonymous with sugar mummies and sugar daddies.

My writing is of course spurred by stories surrounding the death of a renowned Kenyan business mogul. And his alleged involvement with a young woman in the intrepid Jicho Pevu smoking gun we all watched on Monday.

Now the title 'sponsor' has become a buzzword. It is now a cliché used even in memes and stand-up comedy. I can safely assume we all know what it means.

The awry 'sponsor' thingy has pervaded contemporary society: old moneyed men hitting on young women the age of their daughters. And even granddaughters and young women going after and sleeping with older accomplished men for quick money. Prostitution of sorts!

This of course means that there is someone who is being 'played'. It is agonizing just as it is flagrantly wicked.

It's discomfiting that this is happening but a lot of young people don't find it objectionable. In fact 65% of young people say there is no problem with having a 'sponsor' and 33% of them admit having one.

This sets a bad precedent. And it calls for redemption. Now regarding this discourse, I will say that young people and it is not just women should be discreet and respect their bodies.

This behaviour has dire consequences. You just can't walk away like it never happened. It hounds and haunts you for life. And it's not just that; you can get infected with HIV/AIDS or get unplanned pregnancy or get humiliated in public.
